The Gmina of Rzgów is situated in the eastern part of the Wielkopolska region, in the south - west of the powiat (district) of Konin. The A-2 highway, which is an important route, crosses the Gmina.
The Gmina is composed of 25 villages, including 21 village administrator's offices. It has in area of 10,468 ha out of which 71 % are covered by arable land, and 19,3 % by forests.
The Warta River flows across the northern part of the Gmina. A part of the Gmina, from its boundary with the Gmina of Zagórów to as far as the A-2 highway, is situated within The Nadwarciański Landscape Park.
The Gmina of Rzgów is inhabited by 6853 people. In December 2001, the unemployed rate was 13 %.
90 % of the buildings in the area of the Gmina are connected to water-supply system. Two purification plants, one in Rzgów and the other one in Sławsk, operate in the Gmina.
There are also brown coal deposits, the extraction of which is to begin after the year 2010. As far as education is concerned, there are 4 primary schools, including one branch school and two junior high schools in Rzgów and Sławsk. All the schools are equipped with oil boiler rooms.
12 units of the Voluntary fire Brigade operate in the Gmina. The unit of the Voluntary Fire Brigade from Rzgów was incorporated into the state life - saving system. The unit has its own brass band.
The clean air, richness of fauna and flora of the Nadwarciański Landscape Park, numerous cycling routes make the Gmina particularly attractive, and encourage for development of agro tourism.
